~THE GU-VO VIRTUAL LEARNING CENTER IS INSPIRED IN MEMORY OF BILL AND LINDA LAUBNER. ~
NAAF has partnered with Sunnyside Unified School District to open a learning center helping middle school and high school kids succeed in their education. Also, high school age children will have an opportunity to enroll in Sunnyside’s Project Graduation. NAAF’s goal is to improve students’ achievement and graduation rates and highlight the importance of literacy.
Our generous donations have made it possible for NAAF to invest in computers for the learning center, transportation, employees, school supplies, and a temporary mobile computer lab. This exciting project is supported by members of the four communities within the Gu Vo District: Menegers Dam, Pia Oik, Ku Katch, and Gu Vo.
“We strive to provide the tools needed for our kids’ success, and to support and inspire our youth so that they can achieve their dreams and aspirations.” S. Warmack, President
Our partnership with Sunnyside Unified School District is a unique and innovative way to make education accessible to the residents of the Tohono O’odham Nation, especially the most remote areas, such as the District of Gu Vo.
Making education accessible!
It is our hope that the Virtual Learning Center may serve as an inspiration and as a model to be used throughout all Native nations.
